Funerals and the Burial of Ashes at St John’s Thornham
St John’s Thornham has an active graveyard and conducts burials and the internment of ashes.
A Funeral Service may be held in church, or at the graveside, before, or after, a burial or cremation. Alternatively, following a cremation a short service and internment of ashes may be held in our garden of remembrance or grave.
Funerals are arranged via the Funeral Director who organises your family’s needs, the Funeral Director, can talk to us to discuss a plot that suits your requirements.
Garden of Remembrance
St John’s Thornham has a Garden of Remembrance where we inter cremated ashes (usually following a Sunday Service about 12 noon).

Grave Searches
St John’s Thornham has a map of the graveyard with all graves listed with dates of burials, and Plot Numbers etc. Please contact us if you require a grave search.
Graveyard Upkeep
St John’s aims to keep the graveyard in good order. If you have a plot for a loved one, we encourage regular attendance to place fresh flowers. To comply with The Diocese and Eco Regulations: no plastic flowers or ornaments of any kind are allowed in the Graveyard. Headstones are arranged through a Stone Masion who ensures that all requirements are met to place or alter a Head Stone. All graves are then laid to grass to allow grass cutting and maintenance.
